SCNM to Honor Veterans at the School’s First ‘Vis for Vets’ Celebration

SCNM to Honor Veterans

The Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine is inviting the community to celebrate and express gratitude for all veterans at ‘Vis for Vets,’ an on-campus event taking place Wednesday, November 11, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Activities will commence with a ceremony of recognition and thanks in honor of all veterans. Featured speakers include Dr. Klee Bethel, who served in the U.S. Army; General Fridovich, a retired lieutenant general and Green Beret who served as deputy commander for the military’s Special Operations Command; and Melissa Meiedierk, the coordinator of the VA Community Referral and Resource Center (VA CRRC) in Phoenix. Meiedierk will speak about national and local issues specific to veterans and how students can make a positive impact in our Phoenix community.

After the opening ceremony, guests may enjoy a free meal provided by Nourish Café, followed by outdoor games such as Frisbee. In addition, a guided ‘gratitude meditation’ will take place in the serenity of our campus garden. Attendees—who are up for the challenge—may also participate in a military-style HIIT workout.

Various community partners, such as Ability 360 (formerly Virginia G. Piper Sports and Fitness Center), will also attend the event to offer valuable resources and help salute our veterans.

Please RSVP for the event via Facebook—“Vis for Vets: Veterans Day Celebration at SCNM!” Also feel free to contact rsosva@scnm.edu with any questions.
